![]() The silver locket is a moving and truly inspiring novel with a heart-warming touch. If you want a light romance with relatable characters then The Silver Locket may be just what you're looking for. Based on a true story that has evolved into a fictional novel lies the story of a teenage mother and her struggles through life. The characters throughout the novel evoke strong emotions and opinions in you from the start. Teenage pregnancy is a tender topic but one that is managed well in this story. All characters are fictional but seem so realistic as Marie writes them into being. Jennifer experiences flashbacks one day as her daughter is late home from school; she remembers her teen years, her pregnancy and her first love. She remembers how unprepared she was for the arrival of her child - being so young herself - but never faltered to admit that Janie was in fact her daughter and not a younger sibling as people often assumed. A strong mix of sadness and Joy move you through this gripping novel. What a wonderful day we had yesterday. I got off my 24 shift at 7am and then went for a 3 mile hike in the mountains with my 25 yr old daughter. I have been reading a book on my kindle called After Forever Ends by Melodie Ramone. It is a pretty long book, in fact I am only at 65% and on chapter 22. But as I read it I relate to a lot of what she writes and my mind goes back to my marriage and when we were young. I wanted to go back into time, when Jimmy and I were young and in love and when I got back from my hike I kissed him and whispered to him, “Could we be young again today and spend
the day at the fair?” He kissed me back and nodded, “Anything for you my love.” So off to the shower and an hour later we were in the car driving to the Arizona State Fair. It was a fun time looking for food, and watching all the faces of young and old as we strolled through the fair grounds. We laughed and ate and rode a couple of rides, just like we did when we were young. Checking out the livestock, watching the sheep get haircuts brought back memories of when our children were young and the times we brought them to fairs in Oklahoma. It is kind of funny how a book can bring back your past history and good times. As we were on the bumper cars I could imagine the movie The Notebook which I also read the book. And even though as I look at the picture on this blog, us with our gray hair, I felt like we were in our twenties again, young and so full of life. What a wonderful day we had yesterday. I have to admit my age did get the best of me, since I went to bed by 7pm and fell fast asleep without any problem. It was not easy to get up at 5am to go to work today. But life is short and whenever you get a chance to escape from reality, and just enjoy the one you love, jump at it and enjoy the moment. We do not know what tomorrow brings but we do have today to live, laugh, and love. ![]() Stephanie Jackson wrote to me. She said she saw a tweet on twitter and bought my book.
