Does it seem to you like January is going by fast already? I can't believe that it is the 7th already. I was
going through my head, pics, and super eight movie films of some of the things I have gone through all these years. It is great how pictures bring the moment of that time back to your head like you are living it all over again. My husband and I have been married so many years. How did we do it? Believe me I would like to say that it was easy but it wasn't. We had to work to stay together, and not just stay together but also to keep the spark alive in our love.
So I will start at the beginning. We met 38 yrs ago at a lounge, where I loved to dance. Back in time
in the 70's we went lounging to dance, drink and make friends. In those days they had live bands play and in the intermission as the band took a break music was piped in until they came back to play. I was 19 yrs old and dancing with my two best friends Linda and Lynn. I don't drink so I had cokes on my table but I was usually on the dance floor. It was not uncommon for a guy or two to ask me to dance and I just loved twirling to the music. Well this one Friday night when I was at the lounge the band took a break and I still wanted to dance so I talked my girlfriends to keep dancing with me to the piped in music. Everyone
else left the dance floor but we didn't care. The music took over our minds and our bodies. Well now this part I didn't find out till after I was married, my husband, Jimmy, saw me dancing on the dance floor and well, I was top heavy at the time and my body was shaking and he said he couldn't take his eyes off me. But I would have never known that at the time. Jimmy found out that the buddy he was with knew me because I worked for his mother, so we were introduced. Unfortunately Jimmy took my girlfriend Lynn home that night. I was sort of surprised since he was flirting with me at the table more than my friends. So I went home that night with the memory of the night in my head but the disappointment that my girlfriend got the boy that night.
The next week my girlfriends and I went lounging like we do every Friday night. I hoped and prayed that Jimmy would show up but I never told my girlfriends. It was like every other Friday night, dancing, flirting, and just having fun. We showed up around 9pm and after looking and anticipating and finally at around midnight I decided to forget him when all of a sudden someone came up to me and touched my shoulder to say hi. My heart stopped when Jimmy asked me to dance. We talked, and danced and later he took me out for breakfast at 4am in the morning.
Well that is all for now and I will continue to tell my story in future blogs. Just remember that love is never easy. It is a conscious choice that two people stay together and make love and family work.
